A Simple, Sensable Way To Diet
Last week, I went into more detail about the nuts and bolts of the Always Eat After 7pm diet and how I felt that I could incorporate it into my lifestyle. Now that I have finished the book, I’d love to share a little more details with you about how I will use the information in this book to carry on a healthy and fit lifestyle in the future.
Always Eat After 7pm is designed for the long haul. It isn’t so much a diet as a philosophy of a new way to think about food. Joel Marion isn’t saying that you should “always” be eating this or “never” be eating that. You can have carbs. You can drink alcohol in moderation. This really fits with me, and I really believe I’ll be using these lessons going forward.
A Three Phase Program
It’s the simple stuff, reminding me to stay hydrated. Focusing on eating lean meats. Making sure I am consuming the “good” fats. And he gets you into this mindset gradually, with three phases. As Joel Marion says:
“Always Eat After 7 pm is a three-phase program that teaches you how to lose big by strategically eating big when you are naturally hungriest—in the evening. This may sound too good to be true, but let me assure you it is no gimmick. It’s all about making strategic and smart food swaps, and you can still eat your favorite foods.”
The three phases are:
- Acceleration Phase – This 14 day window is designed to jump-start your weight loss goals. It is the strictest part of the process, so don’t get discouraged. Joel Marion holds your hand through this part and actually plans out 2 weeks worth of meals to guide you.
- Main Phase – This phase starts on week three and lasts until you achieve your weight loss goal. It helps develop habits of focusing on lean meats, non-starch veggies and healthy desserts. You can even have a little bit of alcohol at this point! This phase will help you develop strong, healthy eating habits to take with you into the last phase, The Lifestyle Phase. Joel provides another two weeks of meal ideas with this phase.
- Lifestyle Phase – Because we’ve been focusing on lean meats for it’s fat burning and satiating value and super carbs because they are slowly digested, we are set up for a more lasting lifestyle to stay fit and healthy. The theory of the Eat After 7 program is that it gets your body’s metabolism to work for you, not throw it out of whack like other diets. The Lifestyle phase is pretty much exactly the same as the main phase, it is just that the lunches are 50% larger. You are provided with another two weeks of meal plans here.
I’m excited about this diet because, not only does this all “make sense” to me, but it still lets me snack at my favorite time to snack- before bed! The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fasting increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.
