As we have turned the page and are well into the new year, a lot of us have really been focused on eating a little bit better after the “poor decisions” we may have made during the holidays. Cookies, cakes, drinks, casseroles… oh man, I had a lot of fun in those days between Thanksgiving and New Years. But those days are over for now and it’s time to go to the gym, eat better, get more sleep and get my body back on track to being happy and healthy!
CELEBRATING HEART HEALTH MONTH
So, while a lot of spent the month of January focusing on health, it can be understood that by the time we get to February, we may be slipping back into our old ways. This is why it’s worth mentioning that February is Heart Health Month. This gives us a great reason to keep focused on eating the right foods that are good for our bodies. And there probably isn’t a more important part of your body than your heart!
I take heart health very seriously. My family has a history of heart problems and I know a lot of that stuff is hereditary. So, I’m always conscious of the effect that the food I intake will have on my heart! One way that I frequently keep my recipes a little better for my body is by using an Air Fryer.
WHAT IS AN AIR FRYER?
I’ve had my Air Fryer for about 2 years now and I’ve been loving it! An Air Fryer is a small electrical kitchen appliance that cooks your food by circulating fast moving, heated air over it. By cooking your food in this way, you can get that “deep fried” effect even with using very little (or none at all) oil! What Sort Of Oil To Use In Your Air Fryer?
Usually, when making an Air Fryer recipe, you are going to be using a small amount of oil to get those “crispy” results that we all love. The oil that you use is actually extremely important. Zesty Air Fryer Shrimp Salad
Lately, I’ve been REALLY into Air Fryer Shrimp. There are so many things you can do with Air Fried Shrimp-from appetizers to sandwiches to pastas. But, this is the time of the year when a lot of us are health focused so I thought it would be fun to make a Zesty Air Fryer Shrimp Salad!
The first thing that I love about this recipe is that is so quick and easy to make. I literally made this over my lunch break at home! It’s light, it’s fresh and it will give you some great energy to go throughout your day.
Making the shrimp in your Air Fryer is a breeze! You simply coat the shrimp with Mazola Corn Oil and season them with garlic and onion salt. From there, it takes just a couple of minutes in your Air Fryer and your ready to make a delicious salad!
For my salad, I used fresh romaine lettuce, croutons, cherry tomatoes and caesar vinaigrette dressing. But feel free to mix it up however you’d like! Sprinkling some sliced almonds or parmesan cheese on top would work great! Or, if you like fresh onions, that could work as well. The great thing about this Air Fryer Shrimp is that it can really go with just about anything! Zesty Air Fryer Shrimp Salad
- 1/2 lb medium sized shrimp peeled and veined
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp onion salt
- 1 tbsp Mazola Corn Oil
- 1/4 cup romaine lettue
- cherry tomatoes to taste
- croutons to taste
- 2 tbsp caesar vinaigrette dressing
Preheat Air Fryer to 375 degrees
Peel and vein shrimp (if needed)
Coat Shrimp evenly with Mazola Corn Oil
Add Garlic and Onion Salt until coated evenly.
Cook in Air Fryer for 5 minutes.
Place on top of romaine lettuce and garnish with tomatoes and croutons.
Add dressing of choice (I use Caesar Dressing).
