These Air Fryer Pickles come out crispy and delicious. They are an awesome appetizer, gameday or party dish because they are so easy to eat and easy to share. And, made in your Air Fryer, they are so much healthier than traditional deep fried pickles.
I’ve gotta be honest straight off the bat. I’ve never really liked pickles. My wife has been trying to convince me to become a fan for about 20 years now, but I refuse. I just can’t get on board. So, as my love for Air Frying just about anything under the sun continues, I made this recipe for her much more than for me. But, wouldn’t you know it, when I actually tasted these Air Fried Pickles, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. And she LOVED them. I’m definitely going to add these to my playbook of Air Fryer Appetizers, like Air Fryer Zucchini Fries, Air Fryer Mushrooms and Air Fryer Zucchini Chips. So, I thought it was wise to share my recipe on here so everyone can give them a try.
Does It Matter Which Air Fryer You Use?
Well, yes and no. I have two different Air Fryers and they both work great. But they both cook the food a little differently. My first Air Fryer is a Ninja Foodi, and it is awesome because it can do so many different things other than just Air Frying, including pressure cooking.
My second Air Fryer is from Black+Decker. It is a little smaller and less expensive than the Ninja Foodi. There aren’t nearly as many bells and whistles but it works great. It is a great “first” air fryer to purchase. I used it for every Air Fryer recipe I made for years! This Air Fryer seems to cook a little “hotter” than my Ninja Foodi. So, if I really want to get a good and crispy outside
What Ingredients Will You Need?
- 24 Pickle Slices
- 1/2 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
Tips For Making Air Fryer Pickles
- I always use Panko Bread Crumbs to make the outer layer a little more crispy. I mix my garlic and onion powder in with the bread crumbs and run the mixture in a food processor for a couple of seconds. This makes it into a “finer” mixture that adheres to the pickles (or whatever you are Air Frying” just a little bit better. You certainly don’t need to do this, and it does lose “some” of the crispiness of the Panko. But I like to do it.
- Pat the pickles with a paper towel to dry them out a bit. This will help the dry ingredients stick a little better as well.
- If you’d like, you can use Pickle Spears for this recipe instead of slices.
- I always combine flour with a little bit of salt for all my Air Fryer recipes. It’s a great way to get a little extra flavor.
- When dredging your pickles, I used a fork as much as possible to handle them. Otherwise your fingers will get very messy and clumpy.
- While many Air Fryers DO cook differently, just keep an eye on your pickles. You know they will be perfectly cooked if you take them out as soon as they turn golden brown.
- Make sure you give them a quick spray with cooking spray before you put them in. This will give them that extra crisp.
What Sauces Can You Use To Dip Your Air Fryer Pickles In?
- Good old fashioned ranch dressing.
- Sriracha Ranch (I mix 1 part Sriracha sauce to 8 parts ranch).
- Tzatziki sauce
- Buffalo Sauce
- Fry Sauce
- Green Goddess Dressing
Give these Air Fryer Pickles a try for an appetizer during your next party. I love any dish that is a great finger food and that is easy to eat for everyone. And, I have to say, I’m a little bit more of a fan of pickles now than I was before!
