Who Put The “Fun” in Fungi?
To be honest, I used to HATE mushrooms. I think it was a texture thing for me. They just always tasted so “mushy”. But, after I married a card-carrying mushroom lover, I gradually started to breakdown and relent. First, I didn’t mind them on pizza. Then, I didn’t mind them in a pasta. Next, I thought they tasted pretty good raw on a salad. Finally, all of a sudden, I realized that I actually really liked mushrooms.
Mushrooms are awesome because there really is so much you can do with them and then can really support and absorb the flavors around them. I especially love them these days with a nice grilled Ribeye steak.
What Is An Air Fryer?
This small electrical appliance rapidly cooks your food by moving hot air around it. Often times, you will use a bit of oil and get that “deep fried” result without all the grease. Your Air Fried dishes will come out just as tasty but without all the guilt. You can make traditionally deep fried dishes like Mozzarella Sticks, fun new creations like these Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts with Maple Glazed Bacon. Or even a new take on an Asian Cuisine like Orange Chicken!
I currently use two different Air Fryers and they are both awesome.
I also have a Black+Decker Air Fryer that isn’t quite as fancy but it works great!
Healthy Air Fryer Mushrooms
These Air Fryer Mushrooms require only a handful of ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen!
- Mushrooms
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Garlic Salt
- Onion Salt
- Olive Oil
- Green Onion
The saltiness and the garlic works REALLY well with the Air Fried Mushrooms to make this a side dish to die for! And there is very little cleanup after you are done cooking! I top mine with chopped up Green Onions for a little color and extra flavor. But I have seen some people also just garnish with parsley. So that would work too!
While the Air Fryer temperature of 375 degrees seemed to work out well in my Ninja Foodi, I didn’t try it in my Black+Decker. And, I’ve discovered that different Air Fryers have different wattages and may behave a little big differently. I’d keep an eye on my mushrooms while they are cooking to make sure you aren’t burning them!
I hope you try out these Healthy Air Fryer Mushrooms and let me know how they worked out for you! Enjoy!
