This Easy Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu turned out perfect! My wife and kids loved it! Chicken breast stuffed with swiss cheese and ham, coated with Panko bread crumbs and Air Fried to perfection. Awesome!
My love affair with my Air Fryer continues. My wife has been all into her Instant Pot pressure cooker, but I only have eyes for my Air Fryer. I’ve been making all sorts of things in it over the past year, including Air Fryer Pork Chops, Air Fryer Beef Fried Rice, Honey Sriracha Air Fried Chicken Wings and Blueberry Hand Pies. I keep thinking of things that I can try out in my Air Fryer, and they all turn out pretty fantastic. As a child, one of my favorite dishes with Chicken Cordon Bleu. And, in college, there was a restaurant that used to serve this dish and it was totally fantastic. I’d get it every time. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get inspired, but it finally occurred to me to make an Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu.
What Is An Air Fryer?
An Air Fryer is an electronic kitchen appliance that cooks your food by circulating extremely hot, fast moving air around it. This results in a nice, crispy outside and a tender inside. Air-Frying your food gives you that “fried” taste while using very little oil. I usually lightly coat my recipes with Olive Oil or just spray the cooking tray with cooking oil. This lets me eat some of my favorite foods with much less oil, fat and calories. You can make a lot different things in an Air Fryer, from breakfasts, lunches appetizers, dinners to desserts. Not only does your food come out delicious, but using an Air Fryer can clear up space in your oven if you need to be cooking some other recipes!
Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu
It was remarkably easy to make my Chicken Cordon Bleu in the Air Fryer. Sometimes, I have to play around with a recipe a couple of times before I post it on here. But, this time, I got it perfect on the first try! The ingredients are pretty simple, you probably already have them in your kitchen:
Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu Ingredients:
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of swiss cheese
- 4 thin slices of ham
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- Salt and Pepper
Notes, Tips and Suggestions:
- Make sure that you get a good coating on the chicken breasts to get that nice crispy outside.
- You can also coat your chicken in dijon mustard before coating with flour. This will probably help the coating stay on better and give it a little extra flavor. But my kids HATE mustard, so I just dipped mine in a side of it.
- Use pretty thin slices of ham. So when you are cutting trough the chicken, the knife won’t get caught and pull the ham out. After being cooked, the ham broke up nicely and gave it a great flavor and texture.
- Don’t overcrowd your Air-Fryer Basket. Air fryers work best when there is hot air to circulate around and cook the food evenly. It can’t to this with no gaps between the chicken. You may need to cook in batches depending on how big your air fryer is.
- Spray your Air Fryer Basket with cooking spray to help avoid sticking.
- Cook to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
I served this with a side of brussels sprouts, which you can also make in the Air Fryer! All in all, this took about 30 minutes to make and the family loved it because it wasn’t “boring old chicken”. Enjoy!

Also, used pretty thin slices of ham and I think that worked out well. So, when I was cutting through the chicken, the knife wasn’t getting hung up and tugging the ham out.
