This Easy Air Fryer Tilapia is super healthy and delicious. Air fried to crispy perfection, it is still tender and flakey inside. And this recipe is great for any diets, including Keto, Paleo, Whole30, Gluten-Free or Dairy Free!
Why Air Fry?
We’ve probably all had Tilapia. This mild white fish is a favorite to bake, grill, saute or even use to make tacos! So why would we cook Tilapia in an Air Fryer?
I’ve talked to a number of friends recently who have all said that they bought an Air Fryer on a whim, or maybe received one for a present, but they haven’t even opened it up yet. I think a lot of people don’t really realize how easy Air Fryers are to use, how easy they are to clean and how delicious meals are when they are Air Fried.
And Air Fryer uses very hot, rapidly moving air to cook your food. This results in a very crispy outside but tender inside, much like you would get if you deep fried something in oil. But an Air Fryer uses very little, or no oil at all! So these recipes are much healthier for you.
Air Fryer Recipes
There are literally a TON of recipes that you can make in your Air Fryer. I’ve had mine for about 2 years now and I can’t believe I’m still getting inspired to Air Fry things I hadn’t thought of before. From healthy vegetable recipes to Asian Cuisine to fun game day appetizers to breakfast classics, the possibilities are endless!
This Air Fryer Tilapia Recipe is one of my favorites. It only takes about 5 minutes to prep and about 10 minutes to cook. It’s great for a quick, easy and healthy lunch OR dinner!
Air Fryer Tilapia
This Air Fryer Tilapia Recipe is one of my favorites. It only takes about 5 minutes to prep and about 10 minutes to cook. It’s great for a quick, easy and healthy lunch OR dinner! And, even better yet, it only takes 6 ingredients! Here is what you will need:
- 2 Tilapia Fillets
- 1 Tsp Olive Oil
- 1/4
- Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Paprika
- Green Onions for Garnish
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Can You Use Frozen Tilapia?
Yep! That is one of the awesome things about an Air Fryer. Most frozen foods to great in them. If you have time, I’d thaw out the fish in the refrigerator beforehand or, better yet, use fresh fish. But if you’re in a time crunch, you CAN use a frozen tilapia fillet for this recipe. You may just need to add a couple minutes to the cooking time.
Tips, Notes and Variations
- ADD BREAD CRUMBS?- You can make a breaded version of this recipe pretty easily. Just add 1/4 cup Panko Bread Crumbs. Mix the seasonings in with the bread crumbs (I like to put them in a food processor for a couple pulses). Dip the fillets in an egg wash, then dip them in the egg wash mixture. Of course, adding bread crumbs will have implications on dietary restrictions.
- LET IT COOK!- Many Air Fryer Recipes call for you to turn your food or shake the basket to achieve even cooking. This Tilapia will cook so quickly that you really shouldn’t need to do that. Plus, it is a fairly fragile fish and you may break it apart if it’s handled too much.
- DON’T OVERCROWD- As with all Air Fryer Recipes, you really don’t want to overcrowd the basket. If at all possible, don’t have the fillets touching each other. You really want that Air to move around the basket!
- ALL FISH WELCOME TO APPLY– You can sub in just about any fish to this recipe: Trout, Cod, Catfish or Salmon. Just about anything tastes great coming out of an Air Fryer!
